How To Read Greens Like a Pro

Ever hit a putt you thought was going in only to have it drift wide right? If you have, chances are you misread the green. My golf lessons teach that reading greens takes skill, good judgment, and experience. Since there s no formula for determining the direction a ball must start based on the slope of the green and the distance to the hole, reading greens is key to sinking more putts. And sinking more putts, as my golf tips emphasize, produces a lower golf handicap.

Let s talk about ball speed for a second. Ball speed is critical in putting. The factors affecting speed are (1) the type of grass you re putting on, (2) the direction

Do You Need A Golf Teaching Aid?

Who else needs a golf teaching aid?

I need to ban that addictive Golf Channel as there is a new golf teaching aid coming onto the market every day that is a must have golf training aid!

From the new golf teaching tool golfdust that acts as a golf impact indicator right through to the most basic golf teaching aid, they are all impulse buys for the golfer looking to cut their handicap ! Golf teaching aids may also come in the form of a book, dvd course or even a golf impact indicator such as the golf dust spray that helps you determine where you are striking the ball.

How To Use Long Putters

A common putting flaw I see in my golf lessons is excessive wrist action. Increased wrists leads to a loss of control of the putterhead before impact and an abundance of missed putts. With greens in better condition these days, the need for precision in putting has grown. In other words, you must overcome this putting flaw to achieve a lower golf handicap. Enter the long putters.

Long putters curb wrist action by anchoring the putter to a fixed point your stomach or your sternum. While I prefer a regular putter to a long one. I encourage players who take my golf lessons to use whichever putter works for them. I also encourage them to learn the proper

Fix Your Finish To Improve Your Golf Handicap

How you finish often reveals what s happening during your swing In fact, I often key on a player s finish in my golf lessons to determine exactly how to help he or she can improve their game. You can do the same for yourself if you know what to look for.

Below I describe four of the more common finishes I see when giving golf lessons, possible causes of the finish, and ideas on how to eliminate, the swing faults that cause them.

High Finish
The high finish position is among the most common. Hands held high and a flying left elbow (for right handers) characterize the position, associated with pushes, thins shots, and shots struck toward the

How To Play 50 Feet to the Pin

Old sayings die hard. That’s because they often contain a kernel of truth within them. Take the old golf saying, You drive for show, but you putt for dough-an old saw I often tell students taking golf lessons for the first time. This saying highlights how critical the short game is to winning matches and lowering golf handicaps. As golf sayings go, it’s a good one.

The short game, as I emphasize in my golf tips, often determines who wins a match and who loses one, as well as what your score and your golf handicap is at the end of the day. Weekend golfers with poor short games seldom win matches or have a low score or handicap.
