It all started when he lost three games in succession and felt
really hurt by the experience. It wasn’t just that he’d lost, it
was the fact that, when he was honest with himself, he had to admit
that he’d played poorly and never been in the hunt.

That was when he made up his mind to become an Invincible Golfer;
a consistent winner; a really tough, hard to beat competitor.
This is the story of how he turned himself from a miserable loser into a golfer who now wins over 80 percent of his games.

How it all began

It all started when h took a week off work to do a few chores
around the house and play a bit of golf. He
New Rules for Forming an Online USGA Golf Club
...formed golf clubs. Golfers join clubs simply by inputting a zip code of the golfer s home or place of business and the online systems of the leading online handicap services assigns the golfer to the appropriate virtual type 3 ...
lost all of the three
golf games he played that week, and it hurt.

Later, sitting in his car in the car park, he swore that he would
never again allow himself to be beaten like that. And this is how
he became an almost invincible golfer.

His Master Plan for Winning

The objective was simple: to develop a game which would make his
opponents call him a Bandit .

You need to bear in mind that he had a full time job, so this was the 9-point plan which he developed to fit in around his work:

1. develop a swing upon which you can rely, even when under
pressure.

2. Develop complete confidence in yourself and your game - need to
be tough-minded
 Golf's Rich Glossary of Terms
...if made by a right handed player, and to the right if made by a left handed player.Iron: A set of clubs with iron faces that have different angles to their club faces. They have numbers ranging from 2 to ...
and totally focused when you play golf.

3. Research and purchase golf equipment which will give you an
edge in terms of distance and accuracy.

4. Learn all known golf bets so that you can bet to your advantage
and apply psychological pressure on your opponents at opportune
moments.

5. Dress so that you are always comfortable and look neat and tidy,
but never flashy, on the course.

6. Organize your finances so that you never have to worry about
money and can focus totally on your game.

7. Take vacations that will give you opportunities to play plenty
of golf and enhance your game.

8. Source any natural dietary supplements which will help to
keep you fit and healthy and keep your body in good
 Choosing the Right Golf Clubs
...the center of the club face and still end up with a decent shot. Forged irons are better for more advanced golfers because they allow for better control of trajectory, allowing you to hit the ball at a desired angle ...
shape to play
golf.

9. Develop a home fitness regime that will ensure that you have
the stamina to play 36 holes a day, without tiring.

This is how he implemented his plan with such success that when he
returned to that golf club six months later he beat all of the
golfers who had made him unhappy the previous May.

“You really make that driver sing”

He’d been working on his Master Plan for about 4 months when the
opponent he was playing with that day said something that was
music to his ears: “You’ve really got that driver of yours
singing today.”

After he’d wiped the broad grin off his face he knew that he had
just received a signal - his game had moved into
A Beginners Guide Golf Scoring and Calculating a Golf Handicap
...were a 6 handicap you would hope to go round the course in six shots more than the course par. Men can generally have a maximum handicap of 28 even if they take more than twenty eight shots over par. ...
a different
league. Other people were noticing that he was playing markedly
better.

Just a few days later he won a major competition on a difficult
golf course. He could feel the confidence oozing into his game.
Putts that had previously looked like snakes started to look
straight. Fairways that had seemed overgrown with trees now
looked yards wider.

Why his method works when many others fail

When he set out on his mission to become a Bandit he thought a lot
about the best way to improve his game. One of the problems he’d
always had was with the massive gulf between the professional
and the ordinary handicap player.

This gulf is one of physique, natural ability and time to play.
Most professionals start young, they enjoy the game
Free Golf Instruction - How to Putt Like Crazy in Less Than 10 Minutes
...the ball. And get into your setup. Make several practice strokes again. And do not look at the ball, look at the hole. Never look at the ball. Look at the hole. Got it? You may ask why. Ok Good ...
because they
have natural talent and quickly become good players. They then
devote a lot of time to improving their game. This is a
completely different experience to that of the majority of
golfers.

The Golf Bandit didn’t pick up a golf club until he was forty years
old. By then his physique had been ‘wasted’
by office life. He had limited natural ability and little time to
learn and practice. He just wanted to play golf.

So, when he laid out his Master Plan for becoming a Bandit he
started from the point that he was an ordinary handicap golfer
not a naturally gifted player. He developed techniques for honing
his game that were suitable for ordinary handicap players. And
they have worked so well that he now wins
How To Choose The Best golf clubs For Your Game
...everybody loves them. Mainly used for longer shots, drivers are usually the first club out of the bag on the tee. Some advanced golfers, however, may decide to use a driver off the fairway is they need a little extra ...
over 80 percent of his
games.

He now spends a great deal of his time finding new techniques,
strengthening his game and writing articles and stories to help
the members of his Gang of Bandits to become ever more successful
on the golf course. It is his aim to empower every member of his
Gang to achieve the same level of victories that he achieves.

The Golf Bandit is a handicap golfer who has mastered the art of
winning a very high percentage of his games. Anyone who can win
over 80 percent of his games is worth listening to. And, because
he is an ordinary handicap golfer he understands the difficulties
and frustrations that ordinary golfers experience. He has
developed very good solutions to those difficulties.

Practice is a must in golf if you re serious about improving your game. Whether you have a high golf handicap or a low one, you need to practice to get better. That said, there s only so much time in the day to get everything done, leaving you little time for practice. That s why you need to get the most out of your practice sessions.

Below are 5 keys to getting the most out of your practices. Follow them and you ll profit from your practices, regardless of your golf handicap.

Admit Your Limitations

Check your ego at the pro shop. Too many golfers let their egos interfere with their practices. I see it in my golf
How to Become a Real Golf Bandit
...for about 4 months when theopponent he was playing with that day said something that wasmusic to his ears: "You've really got that driver of yourssinging today." After he'd wiped the broad grin off his face he knew that he ...
lessons all the time players swinging for the fences. You re only human and you can only hit a ball so far, so don t try to crush the ball every time. In practice you re there to work on a single aspect of your game, like hitting chip shots or escaping the sand. Concentrate on learning that aspect, not how far you can hit the ball. Swing in slow motion and focus on doing it right.

Use an Iron

To simplify things in practice, I recommend in my golf lessons and golf tips that players use an iron if they re working on a swing change. Use a 7-iron or an 8-iron instead of a driver or 3-wood. Tee
New Rules for Forming an Online USGA Golf Club
...this regard, the USGA has allowed for three types of golf clubs to coexist equally and offer a handicap and each club must determine its type and they are; 1. It is located at a single specific golf course with ...
the ball up to make it easier to hit. Also, focus on the swing fault you re trying to change, not how far you can hit the ball. And don t clutter your mind with too many swing thoughts.

Check Your Aim

Control is the key in golf. As I tell students in their golf lessons, it s more important to hit the ball with consistency than a 300-yard drive once in a while. Have a target for every shot you take in practice, and change targets frequently. If you hit to a target on the right side the first time, aim for a target on the left the next. Changing targets forces you to concentrate on your aim, alignment,
 Golf's Rich Glossary of Terms
...or Trap: Part of the course which has a waterhole or sand to hinder the ball roll or flight.Birdie: One stroke below Par for the hole you are onBogey: One stroke over the par for the holeClub Head: Part of ...
and set-up. I also recommend in my golf tips using two clubs during practice sessions to aid in alignment. Place one club near the ball pointing toward the target and another behind you parallel to it.

Work on Weaknesses

Go to the range with the idea of working on your weaknesses. Many players go to the range and work on the things they do well. Focus instead on your weaknesses. For example, a lot of golfers who have trouble breaking 90 are poor iron players. If that s you, try hitting your long irons the next time you re at the range. Also, try hitting opposites. If you slice, try hitting a draw. Don t worry about how many times
 Choosing the Right Golf Clubs
...may sound great, but if you can't keep it on the fairway, out of the bunkers, and heading for the flag, then all the distance in the world isn't going to help your game. So, the starting point for all ...
you do it, just try it. Often, your body will find a way to do it instinctively.

Swing Freely

Since there s nothing on the line when you re practicing, you probably swing more freely than when you re on the first tee. Remember the feeling next time you re on the course. And don t practice when you re tired. I can tell when a student is tired by the way he or she is swinging. Tired swings create bad habits. If you get tired, stop even if you haven t hit all your balls or haven t fixed your problem.

Hit a Variety of Shots

Most players hit a few balls from a tee before a round. Then
A Beginners Guide Golf Scoring and Calculating a Golf Handicap
...73 then he should take 73 shots to get around. If he is playing a hole of up to 250 yards in length we assume he should hit the green in one shot and then take two putts to hole ...
they hit a few medium-length shots and some short putts. That s not enough. Hit other shots, like chip shots or pitch shots. If possible, hit shots from a bunker as well. Try to get a feel for the texture of the sand. Is it firm? Is it soft? This practice will boost your confidence during the round. And confidence is the key to success.

Another tip is to use your imagination when practicing. Make a game of it. Better yet, challenge yourself. Tell yourself you re going to hit five shots to the red flag. Then see how many you hit. Keep track of how many times you do it. Finally, practice on grass when you can, so you
Free Golf Instruction - How to Putt Like Crazy in Less Than 10 Minutes
...hard enough to get it there. I did! And, yes, I missed! SO WHAT!!! ( Making sounds of mad as hell ) Have you ever experienced this? Or maybe something close ? Who hasn't? It sucks! So what's up with ...
can check your divots, which will tell you how you re hitting the ball.

Practice isn t necessarily fun, but it s necessary to improve. Develop an improvement program and follow it. Remember practicing is the quickest way to a lower golf handicap.

Jack Moorehouse is the author of the best-selling book How To Break 80 And Shoot Like The Pros. He is NOT a golf pro, rather a working man that has helped thousands of golfers from all seven continents lower their handicap immediately. He has a free weekly newsletter with the latest golf tips, golf lessons and golf instruction.

Some people like to debate whether or not golf is a “real” sport. I think it’s safe to say that most of us do consider it a sport. It may not be as rigorous as football or as demanding as running, but it does require physical skills and it involves competition. Sounds like a sport to me.

As with any sport, practice is of the utmost importance. Practice right to play right. We’ve all heard the cliches. Practice makes perfect. Have you found that despite all the time spend practicing your golf swing, you just can’t seem to improve much? Do you have nearly perfect form but you feel like your game’s become stagnant?

In practice you re there to work on a single aspect of your game, like hitting chip shots or escaping the sand. Concentrate on ...
you practice all the time? Maybe what you’re missing out on is exercise. You can’t just swing and swing and swing and expect to improve. As you know, you’ll find yourself improving quickly at first but then your skill level plateaus and you get stuck in a rut. What you’re probably missing out on is tuning your body as a whole. It’s not enough to simply practice your golf swing technique. It’s important to do a variety of exercises to improve your golf swing and lower your handicap. These exercises are simple ones that anyone can do.

First you need to start stretching more. Stretch all your muscles every day, both before golfing and after. This will help prevent injuries
How to Become a Real Golf Bandit
...and practice. All sensible athletes stretch regularly, and golfers should be no exception. There are tons of different stretches you can do that will help your game in the long run. Basically you need to stretch your arms, shoulders, neck, back, and legs. Any basic stretching exercises you do on a regular basis will improve your range of motion which will improve your golf swing and make you a better player. Stiff or tight muscles will prevent your from realizing the full potential of your golf swing. Don’t skip the stretches. It’s not a good idea to walk
New Rules for Forming an Online USGA Golf Club
...the club three times in a year and play in an organized club event in order to comply with the USGA guidelines. Not bothering to stretch is a good way to get hurt. It’s simple, if you want to improve your golf swing you’ll exercise in addition to practicing your swing.

Another key to improving your golf swing is strength training. I’m not saying you need to be a body builder to improve your golf swing, but I am saying that a little working out will improve your game. It stands to reason that, all other things being equal, the stronger person will hit the ball farther than the weaker one. This is pretty obvious, so it’s surprising that so many supposedly serious golfers never hit the gym.
Finally you need to consider your cardiovascular health when looking for ways to improve your golf swing. As you already know, it’s not easy to knock the cover off the ball on the 14th hole. You can be pretty tired by then. But if you’ve been doing some aerobic exercises, then you’ll be stronger in the end than your non-exercising opponents.

To overcome these obstacles, you need to simplify both your mental approach and your physical technique. The next time you have a short chip shot, try using an 8 iron instead of a wedge.
First, set-up as if your were going to make a long putt. Use your normal putting grip and play the ball back in your stance, off the inside of the heel of your back foot. The 8 iron is ideal for this type of shot because it s short enough to deloft without the club s shaft hitting you during the shot.

Also, keep your hands and weight forward, favoring your front side, as you would if you were hitting a chip shot. Hold the club vertically, so that the club s heel is raised off the ground, enabling you to stand closer to the ball. And spread your elbows

I started playing golf at the ripe old age of 27. I have never understood why it took me so long to discover the game. Born and raised in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) I played most sports fairly well throughout my childhood and adolescent years. Golf was fairly dominant in Rhodesia, even in those days, as can be seen from the successes of the likes of Nick Price and Tony Johnstone who are of the same era as me.

My golf started at the CMR Golf Club in Johannesburg South Africa. CMR (not to be confused with Crown Mines, another well known Johannesburg club) having once belonged to Consolidated Main Reef Gold Mine was well laid out and very well
How To Chip As If You Were Putting
...the gap between your elbows as you swing thorough. It also ensures a pure arms-and-shoulders motion. Using the 8-iron approach takes your wrists out of play. Recreational golfers who have trouble making short chip shots often have overly active wrists. ...
maintained. The club house was notorious for its social life and many was the time I heard that it had the highest divorce rate (amongst golf clubs) in South Africa!

The resident professional was Don Elmore ably assisted by his son Ron (also a professional), his wife and daughter whose names escape me. His daughter was in fact a distraction to any golfer walking past the pro-shop and I am sure Don was aware that her presence was responsible for most of the foot traffic that came into his shop.

Ron, the son, played the local winter circuit and I caddied for him one day. What an experience to be amongst such good golfers. This day is a whole story
Is That Free Stuff Like An iPod Or Desktop Computer Really Free?
...getting a free iPod. I m not even sure that if everybody had signed up for an offer that I would have gotten the free iPod. Maybe there would have been even more hoops for me to jump through before ...
in itself.

Ron seemed to take an interest in me after that and one day when I complained about my uncontrollable slice he gently suggested that in fact it was a push slice, far worse than I had feared. However he also added that if I was prepared to work at it he would be able to get me to draw the ball. The offer was too good to pass up as I had suffered with this horrible affliction for a very long time and it had cost me lots of money in bets!

Ron gave me a few lessons and I was soon turning the ball over. I was delighted but he was not satisfied. He said that the
How Proper Exercise Can Help To Lower Your Golf Handicap
...am saying that a little working out will improve your game. It stands to reason that, all other things being equal, the stronger person will hit the ball farther than the weaker one. This is pretty obvious, so it's surprising ...
correction was temporary and if I did not make it permanent it was merely a matter of time before I would be back to my bad habits. To make it permanent I needed to become a natural pull hooker and this is what we worked towards. Ron set me practising with instructions to come back when I had hooked at least 5 balls out of bounds during one round of golf. From memory CMR only had about 3 holes where there was OB so 5 balls was a tall order.

Amazingly the day that I achieved my allotted target of hooking 5 balls OB arrived far quicker than I thought - and I was petrified. I had gone from slicing
Getting the Most from Your Practice Time
...fixed your problem. Hit a Variety of Shots Most players hit a few balls from a tee before a round. Then they hit a few medium-length shots and some short putts. That s not enough. Hit other shots, like chip ...
the ball to pull hooking it beyond any sort of control! Ron was ecstatic and immediately started working on straightening me out.

To this day I cannot remember exactly what he did but I do remember for years afterward I could draw the ball as and when I wanted to. I had spin control, I had consistency and I had distance. I once won three out of four longest drive competitions in one sponsored event. I missed the fairway on the 4th one to narrowly lose out on a clean sweep.

The world was my oyster and CMR and later The Roodepoort Country Club were my playing grounds. Those were happy days.

Highlights of my golf career include a hole-in-one
How to Become a Real Golf Bandit
...natural talent and quickly become good players. They thendevote a lot of time to improving their game. This is acompletely different experience to that of the majority ofgolfers. The Golf Bandit didn't pick up a golf club until he was ...
at the 6th hole at Houghton Golf Club (14.01.89) and a hole-in-one on the 7th at Roodepoort Country Club (01.07.97).

I have also got a diploma in coaching from the European Golf Teachers Federation in Auckland in 2002.

After my wonderful golfing years in Johannesburg I moved to Auckland, New Zealand so that my children could grow up in a normal society.

However is it normal? New Zealand has a few records to boast about of its own and they are all great.

Firstly it has more golf courses per capita than any other place in the world. It also has more boats per capita than anywhere else. In my opinion it has more sheep per capita (Australia would be
New Rules for Forming an Online USGA Golf Club
...the golfer to the appropriate virtual type 3 golf club within seconds. Peer review is established by accessing online tools which show all golfers statistical history in the club including; rounds played, scores, USGA handicap and other pertinent information. Further, ...
the other contender for this title) and it definitely has a great rugby team. Most of the All Blacks play golf too.

Being a keen fisherman and a golfer in New Zealand does have its drawbacks. Both sports are more suited to fine weather and it is often difficult to decide which one to do on a fine day. Golf is dirt cheap here so that often wins on the day.

The golf courses in New Zealand are fantastic and plentiful and it is not unusual to find outlying courses that still use sheep to keep the fairways in check. In this situation the greens are surrounded by some sort of fence (usually electric) to keep the sheep off. When
 Golf's Rich Glossary of Terms
...the ball up on to the green.Putter: A flat sided club used when on the green to accurately place the ball in the cup or hole.Sand Wedge: A club with a steep face, used to hit or lift the ball ...
the fence interferes with a shot or stance a free drop is allowed. It is quite simply very quaint.

My next golfing goal is to get my third hole-in-one here in New Zealand.

I honestly believe my many years of enjoyment of the game of golf has been enhanced by the ability to play a draw and I would advise to anyone who wants to master this game to learn all the different shots. The draw is probably the best shot to be able to play as it gives one so many more options.

What a great game golf is. I have friends for life and can still play a draw, it is a bit harder to control because of
 Choosing the Right Golf Clubs
...the head is made of - cast iron, stainless steel, or titanium. Titanium heads are best for novice golfers as this light material allows for a bigger head, without making the club too heavy. Bigger head equals bigger sweet spot! ...
my arthritis but it is there.

Lee Trevino once said happiness is a long walk with a putter and I couldn’t agree more.

Lawrence Bredenkamp is a qualified EGTF golf teaching professional and lives in Auckland New Zealand. Vist my blog Better Golfing and take up the challenge to reduce your golf handicap by 25% within 6 weeks.

Swing thoughts on the practice range are an unquestioned strategy. They simplify a complex situation. They speed the learning process. And they help develop trust in your swing. How about during a match? Do swing thoughts help there? What are the best swing thoughts to have?

While instructors differ on which are the best swing thoughts during a match, they all agree on one thing: Thoughts like Keep your elbow tucked in, Finish with your belt buckle facing the target, or Keep your head still only foul up your swing when playing. In fact, many golf tips on swing thoughts reject the whole idea.

It s not that these thoughts are bad. They
How I Learned To Draw The Ball
...this title) and it definitely has a great rugby team. Most of the All Blacks play golf too. Being a keen fisherman and a golfer in New Zealand does have its drawbacks. Both sports are more suited to fine weather ...
re not. They re right on target. Entire golf lessons are designed around them. And they re great in practice. They keep you focused on what you re doing.

But eliminate them during a match. Why? They focus on swing mechanics and that s something to avoid when actually swinging a club. Check any golf instruction manual. They will tell you the same thing: You can t command your body to work in a certain way when hitting the ball. Trying to do so creates more problems than it solves.

Instead, focus on your target. That, after all, is your real goal. Forget about where your hands are or where your hips are. Concentrate on where you want the
How To Chip As If You Were Putting
...swing. Having a visual obstacle to hit the ball under forces you to develop your ability to keep the ball low. Keep practicing this shot until it becomes second nature Hitting the short chip shot well whether you use a ...
ball to land and link to it creatively and emotionally. Develop a mental picture of that spot and keep it in mind as you swing.

If you must have a swing thought, keep it simple. And non-mechanical. Many PGA pros focus on a single thought, which eliminates thoughts about swing mechanics.

Ernie Ells keeps this thought in mind when he swings Low and slow. That s it. He doesn t think about where his hands are, where his weight is, or where his body is going to end up. That s for when he s taking a golf lesson from his swing coach. Instead, he focuses on taking the club back low and slow, eliminating everything else.

Fred
Is That Free Stuff Like An iPod Or Desktop Computer Really Free?
...And for me, getting an iPod free falls into that category. It might seem free to you but just understand that this free comes with a definite price. Do you play golf? If you do and you'd like to reduce ...
Shoemaker, author, a pioneer in golf instruction, and founder of the golf school Extraordinary Golf, is adamant about swing thoughts. Replace thoughts about your mechanics with thoughts about the feel of your swing. Think about tempo and rhythm rather than where and when. If you must have a swing thought, says Fred, have one that reinforces the feel of your swing.

Fred has his students practice throwing clubs to emphasize this idea. At first, they throw a club 15 feet. Then, they throw one with a slightly fuller swing, about 25 feet or so. After about 200 throws, they throw one with a complete golf swing. Of course, this club throwing is done under strict supervision and safety
How Proper Exercise Can Help To Lower Your Golf Handicap
...you already know, it's not easy to knock the cover off the ball on the 14th hole. You can be pretty tired by then. But if you've been doing some aerobic exercises, then you'll be stronger in the end than ...
conditions.

Once Fred s students master club throwing, they move to the tee. The goal there is remembering how it feels to throw a club when you hit a ball. They focus on that idea and that idea alone.

Another approach is to have a thought that triggers something in your swing, thoughts that

 Mentally in-plant your target line

 Mimics the actual swing
Produces a smooth take away
Triggers the downswing.
Promotes relaxation while swinging

Establish a target line for your ball flight before you address the ball. Keep that thought in mind when you hit and try to copy it with your ball flight. That forces you to keep the
Getting the Most from Your Practice Time
...shots to the red flag. Then see how many you hit. Keep track of how many times you do it. Finally, practice on grass when you can, so you can check your divots, which will tell you how you re ...
target line in mind, not your mechanics.

Most professional golfers take a few practice swings before they address the ball. They want the feel of the swing before they hit the ball. Recreational golfers ought to do the same. Take a few practice swings. Remember how it feels. Keep that feel in mind when you hit.

Focus on a thought that promotes a smooth takeaway. Slow and easy. Or, slow and smooth. Anything that produces a nice takeaway helps. Remember, the takeaway and backswing do one thing: position you for the downswing.

The downswing begins the chain reaction of feet, knees, thighs, and shoulders. Any thought that triggers this chain reaction helps deliver the blow at impact.
How to Become a Real Golf Bandit
...now wins over 80 percent of hisgames. Anything that helps you transfers your weight to your left side works well.

Also try to complete the backswing in a relaxed manner. Think of anything that will occupy the time between your takeaway and the completion of your backswing. That brief time is critical. It s when golfers think about their mechanics instead of their targets.

Consistency is every golfer s goal. To achieve it, we need a swing that is repeatable under pressure every time we play. Developing that swing, however, isn t easy. It takes hard work and plenty of practice.

Having a thought process that repeats itself time
New Rules for Forming an Online USGA Golf Club
...at a USGA sanctioned golf tournament) with the same features and benefits including; trending reports, performance analysis, golf handicap, and other statistical and tracking information. If the metal side of your game syncs with the physical side, achieving swing consistency gets easier. More importantly, it cuts strokes from your game, which, in turn, generates a lower handicap.

Your golf handicap is calculated with a formula that averages how a player should be able to play better than par.

There are two slightly different ways to calculate your handicap which I detail below.

A wide spread belief amongst golfers is that a player’s handicap is their average score, when in fact your golf handicap is only the potential of your game. Most golfers play their handicap 25% of the time which is know as playing your “average best”.

Accurate pitching reduces your golf handicap. Turning three strokes into two by pitching close to the pin cuts strokes from your scores. Cut enough strokes and you ll lower your handicap significantly. Learning to pitch accurately from the fairway is crucial to improving your game.

Pitching accurately from the fairway, as I mention in my golf lessons, requires good distance control. That s not easy to achieve. The tendency is for your swing to be either too long, in which case the clubhead decelerates through impact, or too short, in which case the clubhead is jerked through impact. Either way costs you strokes, inflating your golf scores and your golf handicap.

Learning to pitch accurately from the fairway is
How to Determine Your Golf Handicap
...their handicap 25% of the time which is know as playing your "average best". So in a large, handicapped competition, the golfer who shoots the best with respect to his or her abilities and the normal variations of the score ...
a two-stage process. One stage involves building better technique. You can work on technique in golf lessons and on the practice range whenever you go. The second stage involves learning how to judge distances. While you can t learn to judge distances simply from taking golf lessons or reading golf tips, they can facilitate the learning process.

Here are 6 keys to building better technique:

1. Make changes at address
2. Open the stance
3. Aim clubface at target
4. Make a shorter backswing
5. Clear the left side
6. Release the clubhead

Two subtle changes at address help with technique. Since you need to strike the ball with a crisp, descending blow, (1) position the ball at your stance
Golf Swing Tips - Improve Your Golf Swing
...key to improve your game skill. The more you will train the better your golf swing will be. Even few fitness exercises could help you to improve your golf swing. Few simple flexibility and strength exercises can improve your golfing ...
s midpoint and (2) make sure that the club s shaft and your left arm (for right-handers) are in a straight line, ensuring ball-then-turf contact.

Also, open your stance a little at address. It enables you to clear the left side through impact. While it seems like a minor thing, it has an impact, just like the two changes discussed above. Despite the open stance, aim the clubface directly at the target, just as if your feet were parallel.

Opening your stance shortens your backswing, since it curbs movement of the lower body. Gripping down on the club also shortens your backswing, while providing increased club control. The closer you hands are to the ball, the better control you have.
Golf Swing Thoughts Help Develop Consistency
...left heel, or Slide your left knee toward the target. Anything that helps you transfers your weight to your left side works well. Also try to complete the backswing in a relaxed manner. Think of anything that will occupy the ...
Nevertheless, you still need to transfer your weight correctly, despite the shorter swing,

With the open stance and the left side clear, your hands have room to strike the ball squarely. Release the clubhead freely through impact and then move smoothly into your follow-through. Use these suggestions to help build better technique.

In addition to working on your technique, you need to improve distance control. Unfortunately, the only way to do that is by practicing. The more you practice, the better you ll get. Below are two other suggestions to remember the next time you re practicing your pitching:

Practice the Body-controlled Method
One approach to help with distance is the body-controlled method. It s an approach I ve talked
How I Learned To Draw The Ball
...that often wins on the day. The golf courses in New Zealand are fantastic and plentiful and it is not unusual to find outlying courses that still use sheep to keep the fairways in check. In this situation the greens ...
about in my golf tips. Assume your normal pitching address position, but place a towel across your chest and under your armpits. Choke down on the grip for added control and make short compact swings, keeping the towel under your armpits as you swing.

At the same time, vary the speed of your body turn. If you have a 20-yard shot, think in terms of turning your body 20 miles per hour. If you have a 30-yard shot, think in terms of turning your body 30 miles per hour. The longer the shot, the faster you turn your body. Try this method to help improve your distance control. Also, vary the length of your shots so you will get practice
How To Chip As If You Were Putting
...a club or bag horizontally across two baskets placed about three feet apart. Then, step back a few feet and try chipping under the obstacle toward the hole, using either a wedge or an 8 iron. To chip under the ...
at different lengths.

Establish a Pitching Zone
Work on establishing a pitching zone a safe area where you re not only comfortable and confident pitching from. Once you ve developed the zone, try playing to it the next time you golf. The goal is to land your shots in the zone when approaching the green, so you ll have an easier shot.

Jose Maria Olazabal used this approach during a tournament. Having driven into trouble off the tee, he asked his caddie: What club will give me 92 yards to the flag for my next shot. Thinking one step ahead, Olazabal was aiming for a spot on the fairway where he was confident he could get
Is That Free Stuff Like An iPod Or Desktop Computer Really Free?
...jump through before that free iPod was sent to me. I have been told that if you go through the entire process (whatever that is), you will receive the free iPod. But there is that old saying, If it seems ...
up and down from to save par. That was strength for him. Establishing a pitching zone gives you a strength to play to, just like Olazabal.

Use these six keys to help with pitching from the fairway next time and you ll be sure to start dropping shots fast.
